How do parents set a username?

The username is set during the onboarding. Any name may be used as a username, including your email address.

To recover the username, tap the Forgot Username hyperlink from the Login screen.

You also have the option of using a biometric login, if your device has that feature. Also, check the Remember username checkbox to save the username for the next login.
